Biography
Sekiguchi was born in Tama on December 26, 1985. After graduating from Teikyo High School, he joined J2 League club Vegalta Sendai in 2004. He played many matches as substitute midfielder in 2007 and became a regular player from 2008. Vegalta won the champions in 2009 and was promoted to J1 League from 2010. In March 2011, 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami occurred in wide area including Sendai. However Vegalta won the 4th place in 2011 and the 2nd place in 2012. In 2013, he moved to Urawa Reds and played in 2 seasons. In 2015, he moved to J2 club Cerezo Osaka. Cerezo was promoted to J1 from 2017. In 2017, Cerezo won the champions in J.League Cup and Emperor's Cup. In 2018, he moved to his first club Vegalta Sendai. Vegalta won the 2nd place in the 2018 Emperor's Cup.
On October 8, 2010, Sekiguchi debuted for the Japan national team against Argentina. He played 3 games for Japan until 2011.
