Levko Lukyanenko
Levko Hryhorovych Lukyanenko (Ukrainian: Левко́ Григо́рович Лук'я́ненко , sometimes written as Levko Lukianenko, 24 August 1928 – 7 July 2018) was a Ukrainian politician and Soviet dissident. He was Hero of Ukraine. He was one of the founders of Ukrainian Helsinki Group in 1976 and was elected a leader of the revived Ukrainian Helsinki Group, Ukrainian Helsinki Association, in 1988.
Career
Lukyanenko served as the People's Deputy of Ukraine from 1990 to 1992 and as Ambassador to Canada from 1992 to 1993. In 1991, he ran for President of Ukraine.
Lukyanenko died in a Kyiv hospital on 7 July 2018 from complications of pneumonia, aged 89.[1]
