Lia Thomas
Lia Catherine Thomas (born 1998/1999)[2] is an American swimmer. She is a student at the University of Pennsylvania. In March 2022, she became the first openly transgender athlete to win an NCAA Division I national championship in any sport after winning the women's 500-yard freestyle event.

In 2021 and 2022, she became part of the public debate about transgender women in sports because some people think Thomas should have competed in the men's sporting events.[3][4] That is because, born as a man, she still has much of a man's bone and muscle strength. In other words, her competition against born females was not a fair contest.
