History
The company was founded in Hong Kong (exact founding year not public). It operates under the legal name G&L INT'L BUSINESS LIMITED.[1] Usui Benjamin Yoshiharu was appointed CEO in 2022.[1]
In June 2023, satellite operator AsiaSat announced the acquisition of Lightning International, integrating its media distribution capabilities to expand AsiaSat’s OTT and FAST service offerings.[2][3][4]
Operations
Lightning International has diversified operations in three main sectors:
- Smart shared technology & IoT: Manufacturing and deployment of shared smart devices (power banks, scooters, massage chairs, etc.) with distribution in over 100 countries.[1]
- Media distribution & FAST channels: Launch of 14 streaming TV channels on Hong Kong’s myTV SUPER platform in May 2025.[5][6][7]
- Logistics & trade facilitation: Providing supply chain management and trade logistics services across Asia.[1]
Notable projects
In May 2025, under the leadership of James Ross, Lightning International launched 14 FAST channels via the myTV SUPER platform in partnership with TVB and Amagi Media Labs.[5][6]
