Makhachkala (Russian: Махачкала; Lak: Гьанжи; Avar: МахӀачхъала; Lezgian: Магьачкъала; Rutul: МахаӀчкала) is the capital city of the Republic of Dagestan, southwestern Russia.[1] As of the 2010 census, the city had 572,076 people living there.
