Biography

Saito was born in Kawasaki on April 4, 1990. He joined J1 League club Yokohama F. Marinos from their youth team in 2008. However he could not play many matches. In 2011, he moved to J2 League club Ehime FC on loan. He scored 14 goals in 36 matches in 2011. In 2012, he returned to Yokohama. He played many matches from 2012. Yokohama won the 2nd place in the 2013 J1 League. He was selected Best Eleven in 2016. In 2018, he moved to Kawasaki Frontale. Kawasaki won the J1 champions in 2018 and 2020. In 2021, he moved to Nagoya Grampus.

In August 2007, Saito was selected the Japan U-17 national team for 2007 U-17 World Cup and played 2 matches. In July 2012, he was selected the Japan U-23 national team for 2012 Summer Olympics. He played 4 matches and Japan won the 4th place. In July 2013, Saito was selected the Japan national team for 2013 East Asian Cup. At this tournament, he debuted against China on July 21. He was also selected Japan for 2014 World Cup, but he did not play in the match. He played 6 games and scored 1 goal for Japan until 2016.
