Keane's works are recognizable by the big, doll-like eyes of the people she painted.[1]
In the 1960s, her artwork was sold under the name of her husband, Walter Keane, who claimed credit for it. They went to court and Margaret won the case.
Keane died on June 26, 2022 in Napa, California from heart failure, aged 94.[2]
