Mathematics and medicine

Medicine regulation uses mathematics and statistics

Mathematics and medicine are closely connected, and doctors use mathematics to make predictions, interpret results or understanding the effectiveness of a surgery, drug or therapy.[1][2]

Approval of drugs

The most common application of mathematics in medicine and pharmacology is probability and statistics where, for example, the effectiveness of new drugs or medical procedures is validated by statistical analysis before they are approved, for example, in the United States by the Food and Drug Adminstration (FDA).[3]
