Minneapolis Police Department
The Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) is the police department in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was formed in 1867, making it the second-oldest police department in Minnesota. The Saint Paul Police Department is the oldest, formed in 1854. The department has four precincts with over 800 officers and 300 other employees.[3][4] The department did get national attention from the murder of George Floyd.

From 2005 to 2006, officers monitored protest rallies against the War in Iraq, in downtown Minneapolis.
Chief Frank W. Brunskill inspecting officers at Station Number 5 in 1925. Brunskill was also at the heart of Supreme Court case Near v. Minnesota involving Minnesota's Gag Law.
