Nancy Stark Smith
Nancy Stark Smith (1952 – May 1, 2020)[1][2] was an American dancer. She was a founding participant in Contact Improvisation.[3] Smith was born in New York City.[4]
She worked with many partners including Steve Paxton, Julyen Hamilton, Karen Nelson, and Mike Vargas.
In 1975, she founded Contact Quarterly, an international journal of dance and improvisation.[5]
Smith died on May 1, 2020 from ovarian cancer in Florence, Massachusetts at the age of 68.[2]
