NASDAQ

NASDAQ is a stock exchange in New York City. It stands for National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations. About 3,800 companies trade on it. It is owned by a company called Nasdaq, Inc.^[1]

NASDAQt was founded in 1971 by the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD).^[2]

In 2023 it bought the financial software company Adenza, for $10.5 billion.^[3]

During the dot-com bubble, the NASDAQ Composite index spiked in the late 1990s. It then fell sharply as the bubble burst.
