Nick Saban
Nicholas Lou Saban Jr. (/seɪbən/; born October 31, 1951)[1] is an American football coach. He became the head football coach at the University of Alabama in 2007. Before that, Saban was head coach of the National Football League's Miami Dolphins, Louisiana State University (LSU), Michigan State University, and the University of Toledo. Saban is known to be the greatest coach in college football history.[2][3][4]
In 2013, Saban was added to the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.[5]
Early life and education
Saban was born in Fairmont, West Virginia. He graduated from Monongah High School[6] in the small community of Monongah, West Virginia. Saban is of Croatian ancestry.
In 1908, when he was 13 years old, Stanko settled in Portland, Oregon, in 1908. He later married Anna Mihalic, of Croatian-American heritage.
In 1975, Saban received his master's degree for sports administration from Kent State.[7]
