During the Blockade of the Gaza Strip (2023), Israel stopped Gaza from receiving aid and supplies. This was part of the 2023 Israel–Hamas war.
During this blockade, Israel restricted supplies such as food, water, and medicine. It also restricted fuel and electricity. The Israeli Energy Minister, Israel Katz stated that the blockade would not be lifted until hostages captured by Hamas were released and safely returned to their countries.[1]
Israel's blockade was partly a response to Hamas's offensive against them. The blockade began in the Gaza Strip on 9 October 2023.
Even though the blockade was lifted after couple of weeks, it resulted in a serious humanitarian crisis.
