Operation Claw-Eagle 2

In the Duhok Governorate in the Kurdistan Region of northern Iraq, the Turkish Armed Forces conducted Operation Claw-Eagle 2, an air and ground operation against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

Turkey claims that it was started in order to rescue Turkish captives held by the PKK, safeguard the border between Turkey and Iraq, and eradicate the PKK from the region.

  1. ↑ Turkey and the United States hold that PKK executed the hostages.[10] The PKK blames Turkey for the deaths. Originally claiming the hostages were killed by Turkish bombing, the PKK later stated that Turkey used poison gas that resulted in the death of the hostages, who were subsequently shot to place blame on the PKK.[11][12]
