Pat Stapleton (ice hockey)
Patrick James "Whitey" Stapleton (July 4, 1940 – April 8, 2020) was a Canadian ice hockey player. He was a defenceman. Stapleton played 15 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) and the World Hockey Association (WHA), mainly for the Chicago Black Hawks. He also played for the Boston Bruins, Chicago Cougars, Indianapolis Racers and Cincinnati Stingers.
Stapleton was born in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. He was the father of Mike Stapleton, who had a lengthy career in the NHL as well. Stapleton died on April 8, 2020 of stroke-related problems in Strathroy-Caradoc, Ontario, aged 79.[1]
