Pekka Airaksinen

Pekka Airaksinen (21 August 1945 – 6 May 2019) was a Finnish composer of electronic music. He started his first band, The Sperm, in the 1960s. The Sperm mixed avant-garde music with free jazz and psychedelic pop, as well as performance art. After the band's breakup in the early 1970s, he turned to Buddhism and stopped making music. He returned to music in the mid-1980s with his album Buddhas of Golden Light. In the 1990s, Airaksinen founded the Dharmakustannus record label. He was born in Helsinki.

Airaksinen died on 6 May 2019, at the age of 73.
