Peter Lougheed
Edgar Peter Lougheed, PC, CC, AOE, QC, (July 26, 1928 – September 13, 2012) was a Canadian lawyer, politician, and professional football player.[1]
Early life
Lougheed was born on July 26, 1928 in Calgary, Alberta.[2] He studied at the University of Alberta and at Harvard University.
Lougheed was married to Jeanne Rogers until his death in 2012. They had four children.[1]
Career
In 2012, the Institute for Research on Public Policy named him the best Canadian premier of the last 40 years.[1] He was the 10th Premier of Alberta from September 10, 1971 through November 1, 1985.
Lougheed has also been a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for Calgary West from May 23, 1967 through February 28, 1986.
Death
Lougheed died on September 13, 2012 in Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, Alberta from natural causes, aged 84.[3]
