Philippine English
Philippine English (Tagalog: [Ingles ng Pilipinas] Error: {{Lang}}: text has italic markup (help), Cebuano: [Iningles Pilipinas] Error: {{Lang}}: text has italic markup (help)) or Filipino English (Tagalog: [Ingles Pilipino] Error: {{Lang}}: text has italic markup (help), Cebuano: [Iningles Pilipino] Error: {{Lang}}: text has italic markup (help)) a dialect of English spoken in the Philippines. It is the main language of government, school and business in the Philippines. It sounds similar to American English, possibly due to the United States owning the Philippines for some time. However, it has many slang words and different pronunciations, mainly derived from Asian languages and Spanish (because the Philippines was formerly a Spanish colony).
Spelling
It mostly follows American spelling, except there is a British preference for the words travelled and traveller.
