Philo of Byzantium

Philo of Byzantium (Greek: Φίλων ὁ Βυζάντιος, about 280 BC to about 220 BC). He was also known as Philo Mechanicus. He was a Greek engineer, physicist and writer on mechanics. Although from Byzantium, he lived most of his life in Alexandria, Egypt.

Philo was the author of a large work, Mechanike syntaxis (Compendium of Mechanics).[1]
