Pope Gregory I (Latin: Gregorius Primus; c. 540 – 12 March 604), better known in English as Gregory the Great, was an Italian priest of the Roman Catholic Church and the 64th Pope from 3 September 590 to his death in 604.
Gregory was elected pope in 590.
