Preta Maria Gadelha Gil Moreira (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈpɾetɐ maˈɾiɐ ɡaˈdeʎɐ ˈʒiw moˈɾejrɐ]) (August 8, 1974 – July 20, 2025), known as Preta Gil (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈpɾetɐ ˈʒiw]), was a Brazilian singer and actress. She was the daughter of Gilberto Gil, a famous musician and former Minister of Culture in Brazil. She is the founder and managing partner of Music2Mynd. In March 2020, she contracted COVID-19.[1]

Gil died in New York City on July 20, 2025 while being treated for colon cancer at the age of 50.[2]
