Albus Dumbledore

(Redirected from Professor Albus Dumbledore)

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore[1] is a fictional character of the Harry Potter series. He was the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry until his death in 1996. He first found Harry when he was a little boy and since then they developed a relationship. In the Harry Potter movies he is played first by Richard Harris, and then by Michael Gambon after Harris died. He had two siblings, Aberforth Dumbledore and Ariana Dumbledore.

Dumbledore is killed by Severus Snape in the sixth book/movie, after Draco Malfoy failed to do so. However, his character's backstory is explored in the last book of the series. His death would lead to the final battle between Harry Potter and Voldemort.

Though it is never mentioned in any of the books, the author announced publicly that Dumbledore is gay.[2]
