Raja Perempuan Budriah

Raja Perempuan Besar Tengku Budriah binti Almarhum Tengku Ismail (28 March 1925-28 November 2008) was the Raja Perempuan of Perlis and the third Raja Permaisuri Agong of Malaysia.

Life

Tengku Budriah binti Almarhum Tengku Ismail was born on the 28th of March 1925, in Kuala Krai (Kerai) in Kelantan, then part of the Unfederated Malay States, to Tengku Ismail Tengku Nik Haji, son of the 3rd Raja of Patani, in South Thailand,and to Tengku Besar Zabedah Tengku Abdul Kadir, eldest daughter of Sultan Abdul Kadir, 5th Raja of Patani.

She married Putra of Perlis in 1941, when she became exiled from Perlis following the Japanese occupation of Malaysia. In 1945, he, along with Tengku Budriah, returned to Perlis, where he was made Raja of Perlis and she was made Raja Perempuan of Perlis.

When Putra of Perlis died in 2000, she was made Raja Perempuan Besar of Perlis until her own death in 2008.

She was made Raja Permaisuri Agong in 1960, following Putra of Perlis' ascension to the throne as Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
