Rajapalaiyam
Rajapalaiyam is a town and a special grade municipality.[1] It is in the Virudhunagar district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Its main attraction is the Ayyanar Falls. The economy is based on the manufacture of textiles. There are mills for spinning and weaving cotton. This town is also known for the Rajapalayam variety of dogs.
Population
According to 2011 census, Rajapalayam had a population of 130,442. It has a sex-ratio of 1,014 females for every 1,000 males. This ratio is much above the national average of 929.[2]The average literacy of the city was 77.87%.[2]
According to the religious census of 2011, Rajapalayam had 94.53% Hindus, 3.48% Muslims, 1.75% Christians, 0.02% Sikhs and 0.21% other religious population.[3]
