Canton of Redange

Redange (Luxembourgish: Réiden) is a canton in the west of Luxembourg. Its capital is Redange, also called as Redange-sur-Attert.

History

On 1 January 1979, the communes of Arsdorf, Bigonville, Folschette and Perlé were merged to make the new commune of Rambrouch.[1] The number of communes in the canton changed from 13 to 10.

Geography

With an area of 267.5 km2 (103.3 sq mi),[2] and a population (2017) of 18,351, the Redange canton has a population density of 68.6 inhabitants/km².[3]

The canton has the Wiltz canton to the north, the Diekirch canton to the northeast, the Mersh canton to the east and the Capellen canton to the south. The canton of Redange borders, to the west, with two arrondissements of Belgiumː Arlon and Bastogne.
