Rocky Johnson
Rocky Johnson (born Wayde Douglas Bowles; August 24, 1944 – January 15, 2020)[1] was a Canadian professional wrestler and trainer. He was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia. In 2008, he was added to the WWE Hall of Fame.
During his wrestling career, he became a National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) Georgia Champion and a NWA Southern Heavyweight Memphis Champion. Along with his partner Tony Atlas, Johnson was a part of the first black tag team to win the World Tag Team championship in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1983.[2]
He was the father of American actor and former professional wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.[3]
Johnson retired in 1991. He lived in Lutz, Florida. Johnson died of a pulmonary embolism on January 15, 2020 at the age of 75.[4]
