It is the leading single from debut studio album Runaway with Del Shannon and went to number 1 in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Chile and Canada and number 2 in Ireland and the Netherlands. It went on to be covered by numerous artists including Bonnie Raitt in 1977.
