Russell Ebert
Russell Frank Ebert (22 June 1949 – 5 November 2021) was an Australian rules footballer and coach. He was called the greatest players in the history of Australian rules football in South Australia.[1][2] Ebert was the only player to have won four Magarey Medals.[3] He was born in Berri, South Australia.
Ebert was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in late December 2020.[4] He died from the disease on 5 November 2021 in Adelaide, South Australia at the age of 72.[5]

Ebert was born in Berri, South Australia, a town on the River Murray.
Ebert joined fellow South Australian Malcolm Blight at North Melbourne for the 1979 VFL season.
Ebert was involved with the 'Outback Odyssey' for three decades. It was a fundraiser for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS). Pictured is a sign on the Eyre Highway indicating a RFDS emergency airstrip is ahead.
One of Ebert's sons, Brett, also played for Template:AFL PA.
