Sam Basil

Sam Basil (16 November 1969 – 11 May 2022) was a Papua New Guinean politician. He was a member of the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea from 2007 until his death in 2022. From 17 April 2019 to 13 May 2019, Basil was the Minister of Finance. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Melanesian Alliance Party.

Basil was killed in a car accident on 11 May 2022, one day before election nominations, at the age of 52.[1]
