Lake Sarnen

Lake Sarnen (German: Sarnersee) is a lake in the canton of Obwalden in Switzerland. It is on the Sarner Aa. It flows out of the Lake Lungern, through the Lake Sarnen, and into Lake Lucerne. The municipalities of Sarnen and Sachseln are located on the shores of the lake, and the Brünig railway line follows the eastern shore. The lake has a surface of rouglhy 7.5 square kilometres (2.9 sq mi). It is about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) long, and has a wdth of 1.3 kilometres (0.81 mi) on average. There are about 20 species of fish in the lake, most are perch, or coregonus, a fish related to the salmon. Sarnen is on the northeastern shore of the Lake.
