Second inauguration of James Monroe

The second inauguration of James Monroe as the fifth president of the United States was held on Monday, March 5, 1821. It took place in the House chamber of the U.S. Capitol.

The inauguration was the beginning of the second four-year term of James Monroe as President and Daniel D. Tompkins as Vice President.

Monroe was sworn in by John Marshall, the Chief Justice of the United States. The inauguration was held on March 5 instead of March 4 because of a snowstorm.^[1]
