She was the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications from 3 August 2017 to 2 October 2018.[1]

In August 2024, Noda said she would be interested in running for the Liberal Democratic Party presidency in the 2024 election to replace Fumio Kishida.[2] She previously ran in 2021, losing to Kishida. However the following month, she decided not to run after not getting enough support.[3]
