Shmuel "Shmuley" Boteach (born November 19, 1966 in Los Angeles) is an American Orthodox rabbi, politician and writer. He hosted a reality television series called Shalom in the Home on the TLC network.

2012 U.S. Congress run

Boteach ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2012 elections. He received the support of then-House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in April.[1] Boteach won the Republican primary for New Jersey's 9th congressional district seat on June 5, and lost to 8th District Representative Bill Pascrell in the November election, by a margin of 73.6% to 25.4%.[2][3][4]

Personal life

Boteach is married to Debbie Boteach.[5] He became friends with Michael Jackson in the 1990s. He was Jackson's Rabbi for two years.[6]
