Shyam Benegal

Shyam Benegal (14 December 1934 – 23 December 2024) was an Indian movie director, screenwriter and documentary filmmaker. Benegal was born in Tirumalagiri, British India. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2006 to 2012. His best known movies were Ankur (1973), Nishant (1975), Manthan (1976), Bhumika (1977),[1] Mammo (1994), Sardari Begum (1996) and Zubeidaa (2001).[2]

Benegal died on 23 December 2024 in Mumbai, India at the age of 90.[3]
