A sixteenth note (also called a semiquaver) is a note that has a value of ¹⁄₁₆ of a whole note, which is how it gets the name. It has two flags or beams. In the [math]\displaystyle{ \frac 4 4 }[/math] time signature it has a value of ¹⁄₄ of a beat.
