South Dakota State University is a public university in Brookings, South Dakota. The university has about 12,816 students. It was founded in 1881. The current president of the university is Barry H. Dunn.
Sports
The athletics teams of the university are called the Jackrabbits. They have 19 varsity teams, most of which compete in The Summit League. The football team plays in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.
South Dakota State University Media
The Coughlin Campanile completed in 1929 on west campus. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
Gene Amdahl '48 was the chief architect of the IBM 360 computer in 1964.
