A strategy video game is a type of video game that focuses on skillful thinking and planning to achieve victory. They are usually categorized into four types: if the game is turn-based or real-time, and whether the game focuses on strategy or tactics. One example is Age of Empires III.

Real-time strategy (RTS): In these games, the action happens continuously. Players must make decisions quickly because the computer or other players are moving at the same time. A famous example is Age of Empires.

Turn-based strategy (TBS): In these games, players take turns. One player moves their pieces, and then the next player moves. This gives players more time to think. A famous example is Civilization.

Real-time tactics (RTT): These games focus on winning individual battles rather than building bases or managing a large economy.
