Sylvia Kristel

She was most notable for her role in the Emmanuelle movies from the 1970s through to the early 1990s.

The most successful film in her career was Private Lessons (1981). She played the housekeeper who initiates a 15-year-old to the wonders of sex. The film grossed over $50,000,000 worldwide.[1]

Kristel was born on 28 September 1952 in Utrecht, Netherlands.[2] She died on the afternoon of 18 October 2012 in Amsterdam, Netherlands from oesophageal and lung cancer, aged 60.[3] She is survived by her son. It was translated into English as Undressing Emmanuelle: a memoir, by Fourth Estate, 2007. ISBN 978-0007256952. She told of her turbulent personal life blighted by addictions to drugs and alcohol. Her quest for a father figure led to some destructive relationships with older men. The book received some positive reviews.[4]
