Tallassee, Alabama
Tallassee is a city in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is in both Elmore County and Tallapoosa County. At the 2020 census, the population was 4,763.[2] It is home to a major hydroelectric power plant at Thurlow Dam operated by Alabama Power Company.

Built in 1844, the Tallassee cotton mill was converted into an armory for producing carbines during the American Civil War.

West Tallassee is located in Elmore County.
East Tallassee is located in Tallapoosa County.
Thurlow Dam was built by the Alabama Power Company in 1931 and named for Oscar G. Thurlow, then a chief engineer and vice president of the company.
