Virginia Wynette Pugh (usually known as Tammy Wynette, May 5, 1942 – April 6, 1998), was an American country music singer. She was born in Mississippi.

Wynette was born and raised mostly in Itawamba County, Mississippi. She attended high school in Tremont, Mississippi, as noted in the picture.
In 1969, Wynette married George Jones. They recorded and toured together as a duet. Their relationship went through several challenges, ultimately ending in their 1975 divorce.

Wynette's final resting place at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The name of her grave was changed three times, eventually changed back to her stage name as pictured here.
Wynette was married to songwriter and producer, George Richey, until her death in 1998.
