Parameters
- 1 (unnamed parameter)
- Language name. This parameter is optional; it defaults to the name output by the template.

- 2 (unnamed parameter)
- Language code (ISO 639-1, ISO 639-2, or ISO 639-3). This parameter is optional; it defaults to last two letters of the template name.
- Example: for

- dab
- Disambiguation used in name of Wikipedia article for the language. This parameter is optional; there is no default value.
- Example:
{{ISO 639 name lij}}
uses|dab=Romance language
to generate a link to Ligurian language (Romance language); without this parameter the link would be Ligurian language (a disambiguation page).
