This template is designed for most common racing series, e.g. British Formula Three Championship. For articles about the racing formulae that are used by such championships, {{Motorsport formula}} may be more appropriate.

1. e.g. Single seaters.
2. Use inaugural2 instead when no category exists for the championship's first year, or additional text is needed, such as a footnote.
3. The total number of drivers from the current or most recent entry list.
4. List the current chassis, engine and tyre suppliers with line breaks. If the list is very long, just enter a number.
5. Normally only applicable to championships with separate titles for teams and manufacturers/constructors, such as the BTCC.
