The Wachowskis

Lana Wachowski (born June 21, 1965, birth name Laurence Wachowski) and Lilly Wachowski (born December 29, 1967, birth name Andrew Paul Wachowski), known together professionally as The Wachowskis, currently as The Wachowski Sisters (since 2016), and formerly as The Wachowski Brothers (before 2010), are Polish American movie directors, writers and transgender women, most famous for creating The Matrix series. Their other projects include live-action adaptation of Speed Racer, Jupiter Ascending and the Netflix television series Sense-8.

Lana Wachowski had a sex change operation in 2008 and changed her name from Larry Wachowski.[1] Lilly changed her name from Andy Wachowski in 2016.
