Tsum Tsum is an upcoming live-action animated jukebox musical fantasy comedy film based on Disney Tsum Tsum puzzle game. It is directed by Gino Guzzardo and co-directed by David Z. Cohen, from a screenplay written by Daniel Siegel and Anna K. Wright, and a story conceived by Siegel, Gina DeVito, and Bill Bergen. The film stars JoJo Siwa as the voice of Mickey Mouse, alongside an ensemble cast including Kimiko Glenn, Charlie Day, Keegan-Michael Key, Jenny Slate, Dee Bradley Baker (in a dual role), Grey DeLisle (in a dual role), H. Michael Croner, Steve Carell, Richard Kind, Brad Garrett, Nick Kroll, Halsey, Amy Sedaris, Chris Sanders, Tori Kelly, Frank Welker, Isla Fisher, Danielle Brooks (in a dual role), and Eric Bauza.

Premise

When Minnie Mouse (Kimiko Glenn) is mysteriously taken by the villains Maleficent and Evil Queen (Danielle Brooks), Mickey Mouse (JoJo Siwa) leads Goofy (Charlie Day), Donald Duck(Keegan-Michael Key), Pluto (Dee Bradley Baker), Daisy Duck (Jenny Slate), Tinkerbell (Isla Fisher), and the Tsum Tsum on a mission into the real world to save her. With the help of new friends, Lady (Amy Sedaris) and the others, the Tsums must discover to bring their destiny to save the world.

Production

In May 2021, Disney announced an animated Tsum Tsum film was in development, with producers Kelli Berglund, Jake Short, and Tory Freeth in 2014. with Disney Television Animation, LINE Corporation, and NHN PlayArt to produce multiple animated film, with the first project being a musical. The film was written by Daniel Siegel and Anna K. Wright, from a story conceived by Siegel, Gina DeVito, and Bill Bergen. In March 2022, Berglund confirmed the film was in active development, and Gino Guzzardo had been hired to direct the film. Principal photography began in Los Angeles on June 24, 2022, and finished on August 21.

The film's teaser poster was unveiled on February 8, 2023, with the teaser trailer releasing the following day on February 9.

Casting

On September 9, 2022, during the D23 Expo, JoJo Siwa announced to have been cast in the leading voice role of Mickey Mouse, respectively.[7] In December, Kimiko Glenn, Charlie Day, Keegan-Michael Key, Jenny Slate, Dee Bradley Baker, Grey DeLisle, H. Michael Croner, Steve Carell, Richard Kind, Brad Garrett, Nick Kroll, Halsey, Amy Sedaris, Chris Sanders, Tori Kelly, Frank Welker, Isla Fisher, Danielle Brooks and Eric Bauza joined the film's voice cast. On February 9, 2023, Brooks announced on social media on the day of the trailer's release that she would be voicing the film's antagonist, Maleficent and Evil Queen in a dual role.

Music

Bea Miller and JoJo Siwa will write and record songs for the soundtrack of the film. On May 26, 2023, she released the song "Stack in Air" from the soundtrack. Additionally, the soundtrack features a new song titled "Get Plushed" by Miller, which includes contributions from KIDZ BOP, Anderson .Paak, and Nicki Minaj. On May 23, the release poster was revealed that John Debney composed the film's score, having previously collaborated with director Gino Guzzardo on Disney Channel's Chibiverse (2022).
