Unicode Consortium
The Unicode Consortium is a non-profit organization that develops and publishes the Unicode standard. Anyone who pays the membership fee can become a member. Many big computing companies (such as IBM, Microsoft, Apple, Oracle and Google) are members of the consortium.
Mark Davis, who works for Google, is the president of the Consortium.
The Unicode Consortium also works with other large organisations, such as ISO. ISO publishes a norm for encoding characters, called ISO 10646, which corresponds to the Unicode encoding.
