Video chat
Video chat is a way of communicating online using the Internet. It uses a camera and microphone in a computer or smart phone. This allows people to see and hear each other.
For streaming video a speed of at least 2 Mbps is needed, to prevent a choppy signal and disconnects. For sound transmission, much less speed is required, so people often turn off video when the internet connection is slow.
Video chat is a very popular form of communication in the 21st century. It is often used for many reasons;
- To communicate with family or friends
- Real time business communication
- Real time education / teaching
There are various software packages which make this possible.
