Wallace Roney
Wallace Roney (May 25, 1960 – March 31, 2020) was an American jazz (hard bop and post-bop) trumpeter. He took lessons from Clark Terry and Dizzy Gillespie. He studied with Miles Davis from 1985 until his death in 1991. He was the only trumpet player Davis personally mentored. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
On March 31, 2020, during the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic, Roney died of COVID-19 in Paterson, New Jersey. He was 59.[1]
