Wilfred De'ath

Wilfred De'Ath (born 24 March 1937) is a British author and journalist. He worked for the BBC in the 1960s and 1970s and writes a column in The Oldie.[1] De'Ath was born to a German mother and English father and grew up in Elstree, Hertfordshire, England. He studied at the University of Oxford. During the 1990s, De'ath served prison sentences for theft.[1]

On 11 November 2012, De'ath was arrested as part of Operation Yewtree in an alleged connection with the Jimmy Savile–BBC sex scandal;[2][3][4] he was later released without charge after the complainant withdrew her statement.[5] De'ath was later told that he would not face any charges, and said that the police action had been "overzealous".[6]
