2015 Chicago mayoral election
An election happened on February 24, 2015 to elect the Mayor of Chicago. The election was non-partisan and no candidate got a majority.

A runoff election happened between the top two finishers (both Democrats) on April 7, 2015, and Rahm Emanuel won the election and stayed as mayor.[1]
Emanuel was in the election, wanting to win a second term. In the first round, Emanuel got 46% of the vote and Democratic Cook County Commissioner Chuy García received 34%. In the runoff, Emanuel got 55.7% of the vote, winning the election. Garcia got 44.3% of the vote.[2]
The runoff was very rare in the history of Chicago's mayoral races.
