2021 Kunduz mosque bombing

On 8 October 2021, a suicide bombing happened at the Shia Gozar-e-Sayed Abad Mosque in the Afghan city of Kunduz.[2][3] Over 100 people were killed and another 100 injured.[4] The official death toll provided to Agence France Presse was 46, and 143 injured.[1]

The attack is the deadliest in Afghanistan since U.S. troops left in August.[5] The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.[6]

On 15 October 2021, an IS-KP suicide bomber killed 65 people at a Shia mosque in Kandahar.
